Our Mission

To highlight the culture of Hip Hop in Chicago and celebrate and preserve the history and legacy of local and global artists.

Hip Hop: focusing on the five elements MCing, DJing, Breaking, Aerosol Art, Knowledge. The exhibit celebrates Hip Hop’s emergence from the park jams and the projects to night clubs, national concert tours, TV and motion pictures circa 1980 to 1985. The innovative music, art, dance and fashion that first started permeating city streets in New York then reaching Chicago, during the 1970’s & 1980’s. This arts and cultural movement would soon spread Hip Hop to every corner of the globe.
